Hergiswil/Grosshöflein - Mindset Technologies AG has won the hackathon event held as part of the Austrian Defence Innovation Conference 2026 in Klagenfurt. The company will put the 30,000 euros in prize money towards the further development of its brain frequency meter for measuring and predicting human performance.
Mindset Technologies Development GmbH emerged as the winner of the hackathon at the Austrian Defence Innovation Conference 2026 in Klagenfurt. Organized by the Austrian Ministry of Defence, the event aims to bring together military needs, research and industry at an early stage, as detailed in a statement. As such, the event focused on two defence challenges and a hackathon, where participants worked on innovative technologies. The results were then presented to a jury.
Mindset Technologies has banked prize money of 30,000 euros for winning the hackathon. The neurotech firm is headquartered in Grosshöflein, which is located near Eisenstadt in the Austrian federal state of Burgenland. Medical research activities are carried out at Mindset Technologies AG in Hergiswil in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden.
It was the company’s SERVE framework that was recognized with this award. With this, Mindset Technologies has developed an approach for assessing human risk in military operational environments. Wearable sensors are used to capture biosignals such as eye movements, heart rate and perspiration to analyze in real time the cognitive load to which individuals are subject and provide feedback on this. While training applications can already be used in the short term, efforts are ongoing with the aim of integrating the system into operational processes and developing comprehensive risk frameworks.
In a statement of its own, Mindset Technologies cites aviation and mobility in general, industrial production control, insurance in relation to accident avoidance, sport as well as gaming and e-sports as further potential application areas. “Understanding and predicting cognition, mental processes and stress increases the lead time for appropriate interventions”, according to the statement. “With the help of Mindset Technologies’ cognitive monitoring solutions, soldiers, pilots, and operators receive the support they need at the right time”. ce/mm
